Let’s Us Stream To The Mountain Of Our God! -Thoughts on Isaiah 2

Isaiah is well aware of the corruption and the lack of justice that abounds in his land. In the midst of religious people who not only commemorated the feasts of YHWH but also worshipped sacred oaks, the widows and fatherless boys were neglected and ignored. Isaiah tells us in the chapter of a time where God is sending a correction to the land in the final days. Paul tells us in Romans 15: 4 ” For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.” The book of the prophecy of Isaiah is no exception and in particular, the second chapter that we are considering today.

Reading this chapter immediately put me in the mind of the times we live in today were God’s people and surrounding nations are subject to corruption and injustice in the land. We live in a time where news travels so much faster because of the technological advances that we have in our era so we are bombarded with news or reports of corruption and injustice that takes place all over the world. In the midst, there is a remnant of “religious” people who profess Jesus and live a life holy and set apart for God. But there are those who are religious and mixed their worship with practices that are not becoming of a worshipper of God that have neglected pure religion as spoken of by James in chapter 1:27 “:Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.”Like the children of Israel we, spiritual Israel fight to keep our worship pure! I find it most interesting while Isaiah has been speaking about a godless nation at large but he also speaks to God’s people as they are living among this nation.

Isaiah 2 some scholars believe that in context, the term latter days refers to the “time of the Messiah,” when the Anointed of the LORD reigns over the earth. This speaks of the time many refer to as the millennium, the thousand-year reign of Jesus on this earth. But I am reminded how even today this is proving true.

God is sovereign and all-powerful, not only in the end but also right now!  Right now,  We laud our God for being the highest in all the earth.  Right now,  everything is filtered through his Sovereign control and no one can thwart his purpose for mankind or his promises to his  children. Right now we can stream to his holy mountain today where He will teach us His ways, And we shall walk in His paths.

Communing with God in prayer and meditation on his word and pouring over the scriptures with fellow believers, much like we are doing today, is evidence of God’s people streaming to his mountain as we invite the nations to stream to his holy mountain with us! We have confidence that in the end God will shape and create a world where all creation will worship him and his goodness and justice will fill the land and the righteous one can dwell. That is how it will be in the time of the end.

So today, like Isaiah we ask if Almighty God reigns right now, Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils: for wherein is he to be accounted of? (KJV)In other words, “Stop trusting in mere humans, who have but a breath in their nostrils. Why hold them in esteem?” (NIV) The Almighty God is the everlasting God who lives forever and ever has lived forever and ever. Our trust should be him we should esteem him for dominion and power belongs to him forever and ever! Why should we esteem man who is here today gone tomorrow – in any way?
