Ex-JW Activism Reflections of an Ex-Jehovah's Witness Shannon's Musings and Thoughts The XJayDub Cafe

“I WAS NEVER A JEHOVAH’S WITNESS BUT……

Stop right there! ✋

Ex-Jehovah’s Witnesse have you ever heard a #neverjw say:

“well they seem really nice to me”

” My (insert family member) is a Jw .”

Or use the “but I have a friend that’s Jw and he/she said the religion is not that way”

Please stop this .

Don’t gaslight or discount are feelings because your experience was different.

Research before challenging  or discounting our experiences!

If you have never been a Jehovah’s Witness before this is crucial.

Jehovah’s Witnesses are faithful to their organization and many are nice people .

However, saying this to shut down a conversation as if we are only disgruntled members is not cool.

Some of have lost friends or family to suicide due the strict shunning polices of the Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Our families treat us as if we are dead. So no holidays, no calls, no visits to our children.

Some of us not only lost our whole Jehovah’s Witness community but lost jobs. Why? Because Jehovah’s Witnesses employ each other. If you are kicked out or leave the religion voluntarily…you lose your job.

Some of us were physically abused and/or sexually abused . Our pain and outcries fall on deaf ears of the leaders.

Some of us have had family members or friends die due to the no medical blood transfusion policy of the Jehovah’s Witnesses.

This is why we protests and do media to bring awareness these issues.

Most importantly…..just listen.

Walk a mile in the ex- members shoes….
